CBD products are still considered a big No by the Army according to the Uniform Code of Justice

CBD has indeed become a famous ingredient that is used in many applications. Congress also with the passage of the farm bill has given a green signal to the growth and use of CBD oil if its THC is less than 0.3%. Personal use of CBD has increased manifold and its benefits are widely visible.

But amidst much fanfare and hums are the officials of Army substance abuse at Fort Knox who is pre-warning the community members to stretch but with cautious steps.

The FDA does not permit and legally certify the contents of the products but people who use do so with trust. They believe that these companies legally are measuring the content and labeling the ingredients according to their true measure. These companies also are giving clear-cut instructions on how and how much to use it. Hence the program manager is positive that with the use of these products, one can test positive for marijuana tests.

On December 20th, 2018 CBD discussions increased across the country when Donald Trump decided to remove the hemp plant from controlled substances and established its legality. But the conditions were still not clear. Farmers began to cultivate the hemp plant and samples were picked by research agencies.

Many of the farmers were given the clean chit for having less than 0.3% THC in their plant. The one thin line that separates CBD and Marijuana is the THC level. On one hand, CBD has less than 0.3% of THC; marijuana has higher than the ceiling limit of this compound.

Higher the THC higher is the possibility of mind getting altered. CBD is safer to use and makes you feel better, marijuana makes you feel high especially after addiction. CBD is anti-inflammatory which is why its use in medical and cosmetic industries has boomeranged.

Despite such a bill being passed, the US Army Installation management command released a letter to their Civilian employees to beware of CBD oils. They are aware of the law but their policy on marijuana use doesn’t change despite the law.

Joyce Perry who is a member of the IMCOM Drug Testing Programs exclaims that the law has allowed for the CBD products, but FDA still doesn’t approve of the levels of THC in some products. Hence when taken in continuous succession, the THC level might add up giving rise to a positive marijuana test.

The hemp plant is taken off from the controlled substances act, Schedule I yet the government and FDA seem to have some concerns and differences in opinion.

If the test is positive there is no way to verify the THC in the body unless there is a valid prescription. The army regulation 600-85 which is dated November 28th, 2016 has made it crystal clear that as long as the soldiers are in the uniform code of military justice, they are restructured to use any psychoactive compound. The regulations further reinstate that the soldiers cannot use any oil made from hemp that might affect their central nervous system. These prohibitions are strictly reserved for soldiers and will not apply to their family members.

Another problem that was highlighted was the fact that companies and businesses do not label the products accurately. Taylor said that about 69% of the CBD oil products were not in sync with their labels. These products had higher THC compared to what was written on them.

CBD oil has been a game-changer for the medical industry. A lot of people have experienced extreme relief in conditions surrounding ailments like cancer, Joint Pains, Alzheimer’s diseases, depression, epilepsy and a lot more. But the intake of CBD infused drugs can happen only when the doctor prescribes in the form you should be taking. Dr. Peter Grinspoon of the Harvard medical school has confirmed the wonders of CBD in the case of severe epilepsy where seizures have stopped.

Ronald Flegel who is the director of Division of workplace programs released a memorandum on 24th July that clearly warned federal employees within all branch agencies against the usages of products with higher THC. He told them that continuous THCA drug tests will be conducted and people who test positive will be liable.

But, in future products containing Cannabis like vaping products have to be carefully used. The important part is to trust the company whose CBD products you are using. It is time to reflect and understand the risks of using such products. A positive drug test can ruin your job and career.

However, a recent sharp rise in vaping-related lung diseases is causing medical officials to look more closely into hemp products since many companies sell CBD oils for use with vape pens. Because of the uncertainty behind what is causing the illnesses, Taylor is recommended avoiding CBD oil altogether.
