North by Northwest Brewing Co. invites people to celebrate the 4/20 with a special CBD infused cask of craft beer on April 20, Saturday. With the limited edition of NXNW’s Dank Sinatra, the company plans to celebrate the special occasion of the 4/20 ritual.

The date holds a special cultural importance in the history of marijuana, several companies and brands will be seen giving ample of discount offers on CBD based products this year. The Dark Sinatra will be a New England hazy IPA infused with watermelon- flavoured CBD oil from SumUp CBD, watermelon juice and garnished with a watermelon Sour Patch Kid.

Kevin Roark, brewer will tap the specialty 5-gallon cask at exactly 4:20 p.m. in the bar area and will continue to pour until the beer runs out. In addition to the CBD-infused cask, another drink of Dank Sinatra brewed with Galaxy and Columbus cryo hops will be introduced on the 4/20.

The popular IPA will be available canned and along with this the NXNW will also begin serving stoner food specials (highly infused with CBD) such as candy bar brownies, house made pizza rolls and complimentary bar snacks.

The Story of 4/20

There are many stories weaved around the date, but the most credible story dates back to 1971, when a group of teens at the San Rafael High School, California regularly met to smoke outside their school.

The group -Steve Capper, Dave Reddix, Jeffrey Noel, Larry Schwartz, and Mark Gravich- was popularly known as the “Waldos,” because they met at a wall.As Reddix told TIME in 2017, “We got tired of the Friday-night football scene with all of the jocks. We were the guys sitting under the stands smoking a doobie, wondering what we were doing there.”

They chose the time 4:20 p.m. since the extracurriculars had usually been over by then. They labelled 420 as a code to marijuana, this reference reached the band “The Grateful Dead” and High Times magazine.

These influencers helped reach the 420 code to a global level and made it recognize as a significant day in the history of marijuana community.

SumUp and its new range of CBD products

CBD can be effectively derived from hemp and marijuana, both. CBD is gaining popularity for its potential health benefits. While there is no research or formal international study which backs up these claims, people have experienced significant relief in their stress, pain, anxiety, depression and even in cases of Alzheimer’s.

Contrarily, THC, tetrahydro cannabinoid, another compound found mostly in marijuana is a psychoactive component which causes the ‘high’ when people smoke weed. It can lead up to several mental disorders and cause anxiety.

The Food and Drug Administration allows CBD in a drug for two rare forms of epilepsy found in children, no stringent regulatory policies have been made for the substance till now. The agency said it will hold a public meeting for setting the regulations for CBD consumption in foods and beverages.

The FDA and FTC jointly issued warning letters to 3 companies who marketed their CBD based products as a cure to cancer. On the other hand, federal law has allowed CBD to be used by consumers. The contrasting decisions by both the government and the agency has led companies and consumers, both in a dilemma.

Despite the confusion, companies and retailers have started selling CBD infused edibles to the consumer market.A range of CBD products is flooding the U.S. market including lotions, creams, oils, capsules, pills, tablets, coffee, gummies, candies, popcorn and what not.

SumUp CBD will also set up the event on 4/20 from 4 to 7 p.m. to sample its range of newly introduced, organically grown, full spectrum CBD oils. Like many others, the company will also offer a discount on products for attendees who buy CBD oils and swag them at the event.

The event will be free and open to the general public, anyone can come in, join the party and drink up to the new NXNW Dark Sinatra.
