As the cannabis industry is booming with exponential growth and a high revenue market, we have its women to thank for their numerous contributions- everything from getting the seed to sale, to improving processes in getting clones, to consulting startups on how they can launch their business.
These women will speak at the Cannabis Conference 2020, in Las Vegas, on subjects that are far-ranging as disease challenges in growing hemp industry, cannabinoid and terpene science, tips for hiring and retaining dispensary staff- all to help the cannabis industry continue to grow.

Dr. Leslie Apgar, Greenhouse Wellness
Dr. Leslie Apgar is an OBGYN Board certified with 17 years of extensive patient care experience. She is also Greenhouse Wellness’s co-founder and medical director, and co-founder of Blissiva, a female-focused cannabis brand. Apgar is also the founder of Pura Vida, a cosmetic spa and laser center that has been operating for 12 years.
Dr. Janna Beckerman, Purdue University
Dr. Janna Beckerman is an extension plant pathologist specializing in diseases of horticultural crops and a professor at Purdue University. She gained her M.S. and B.S. in Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and her Ph.D. in plant pathology from Texas A&M University.
Marguerite Bolt, Purdue University
Marguerite Bolt works as an Extension Specialist in the Department of Agronomy at Purdue University. She gained her B.S in Entomology from Michigan State University and her M.S. in Entomology from Purdue University. Bolt’s research has largely been oriented towards hemp-insect interactions and plant chemistry. Bolt has a keen interest in the secondary compounds that hemp produces and how it affects insect pests, however,
she has had to shift her focus to agronomic production questions surrounding hemp. She is working as a catalyst to link growers to production facilities and the research community via field days, workshops, and online resources.
Emma Chasen, Eminent Consulting
Emma Chasen is a graduate of Brown University, with a degree in Medicinal Plant Science in Biology. Chasen created the position of Director of Education at the historic Farma cannabis dispensary in Portland where she built comprehensive cannabis research, drug awareness and empathic patient care training program. Chasen is now the co-owner and operator of Eminent Consulting, a company that specializes in aiding brands create educational marketing collateral and ongoing educational programs to further enhance their brand presence in a competitive industry.
Mackenzie Ditch Wilcox, Cresco Labs
Mackenzie Ditch Wilcox now serves as Counsel – License Applications for Cresco Labs, a vertically-integrated, multi-state cannabis company headquartered in Chicago, Ill. Wilcox’s professional experience in business, tax and grant writing gives merit-based cannabis applicants a specific and oriented perspective. Wilcox uses her legal educational background and experience to guide companies about the license application process, including licensing, application strategy, and regulatory incorporation. Wilcox also assists in managing the application licensure process of Cresco Labs’ Social Equity and Education Development (SEED) program, which helps in qualifying Social Equity Applicants in applying for several cannabis licenses. The SEED program has assisted and incubated over 40 social equity-qualifying businesses in applying for licensure in various areas of the cannabis industry, including craft, grow and infuser applications in Illinois.
Wilcox gained her Juris Doctorate at DePaul University College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago and. Before joining Cresco Labs in July 2019, Wilcox used to work as a civil litigator in Chicago III. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Cook County Bar Association.
Gina Dubbé, Greenhouse Wellness
Gina Dubbé is a venture capitalist and serial entrepreneur. Currently, she works as the co-founder and managing director of Greenhouse Wellness, a medical cannabis dispensary located in Maryland and is also the co-founder of Blissiva, a female-focused cannabis line. Before her work in the cannabis industry, Dubbe co-founded TheraPearl, a hot and cold compress. Her efforts with TheraPearl led the firm to rank on the Inc. 500 list and she also received accolades including “Forbes Magazine Women Who Built Outstanding Businesses.”
Debby Goldsberry, Magnolia Wellness
Debby Goldsberry is the managing director of the Berkeley Adult Care Center Amoeba Music dispensary and the executive director of Magnolia Wellness, an award-winning facility based in Oakland, California, and. In 1999, she also co-founded the medical cannabis collaborative Berkeley Patients Group (BPG), which has driven its development for more than 11 years. Goldsberry also published its first novel, “Idiot’s Guide: Beginning and Operating a Cannabis Company,” in 2017.
